Tim Burton + “Addams Family” = Marriage Made In Heaven?

Goth auteur extraordinaire Tim Burton is set to take on one of his biggest influences with a new “Addams Family” stop motion feature film, and the script will be written by two of Burton’s old friends, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, who previously wrote the script for Burton’s acclaimed biography “Ed Wood.” The Addams Family, of course, has been adapted numerous times since it first appeared in a series of popular New Yorker cartoons by Charles Addams in the 1930’s, including versions for television, stage and screen. Most of the adaptations, however, have softened Addams’s dark humor, something that won’t be necessary for the perpetually creepy Burton, who has made a name for himself with similarly themed works such as the classic 1993 stop motion film “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
