Shingle Nabs Film Rights to Pair of Books
Articulus Entertainment has snapped up feature rights to a pair of bestsellers — “A Dirty Job” and “The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid.” Both projects will be produced by Articulus principal Steven Sawalich. “A Dirty Job,” penned by Christopher Moore and published by HarperCollins, is a satire about man’s quest to find out the meaning of death as a widower copes with the untimely death of his wife while raising their newborn daughter. In the process he becomes death’s representative on earth, collecting people’s souls before they die. “The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid,” penned by travel humorist Bill Bryson and published in 2006, takes a nostalgic look at Bryson’s childhood in Des Moines, Iowa, in the 1950s.
