Sundance and the Gateses Set a Short Schedule
Sundance Institute is partnering with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a series of shorts tied to world issues. Six docu shorts commissioned by the institute will be shared by the foundation online and at events worldwide. Excerpts premiere Sept. 20 as part of TEDxChange, a live event assembled by Melinda French Gates that marks the 10th anniversary of the U.N.’s Millennium Development Goals to improve social and economic conditions in poor countries. TEDxChange will stream live at TED.com, with satellite events set for 50 communities worldwide. Shot in Bangladesh, India, Haiti, Kenya, the Congo, Lesotho and the U.S., films explore issues such as finding success at an urban American charter school and parenting while being HIV positive.
