Nash Nabs “Kid” Writer’s Script, Enters “Dreamland”

Nash Entertainment is going to “Dreamland,” developing a biopic about the man who popularized baby incubators from a script by Christopher Murphey (”The Karate Kid”). Nash Entertainment president Bruce Nash and feature film chief Robert Kosberg will produce. “Dreamland” is centered on Dr. Martin A. Couney, who operated the attraction of the same name at Coney Island from 1903 to the early 1940s. Couney began his work in the late 19th century in Germany at a time when premature babies were usually expected to die. Couney died largely forgotten in 1950. Nash came up with the idea for “Dreamland” after seeing a doc about Coney Island, noting a key event involving little people who put out a fire at Dreamland.
